Art for Art's Sake

The Tate Modern Gallery

Tate Modern is the jewel in the crown of modern art galleries in London. It holds the nation's collection of modern art from 1900 to the present day and, on the 10th of February, students studying art and photography were lucky enough to be amongst the 5 million visitors who attend the gallery each year.
Armaan writes, 'the purpose of the trip was to experience different forms of artwork and seek inspiration for our chosen themes for our exam project.

There was art from around the world and from historic times, which influenced many of us to incorporate these styles into our own work.

Alongside each exhibit, there was an information panel describing the work, the historical background and the artist.

As a brown Muslim myself it was good to see many artists who were brown and Muslim too and to see some more representation. I think also the visit to the gallery allowed us to broaden our knowledge of the world and how it can be viewed.'
