Jack Petchey Rewards

The Achievement Awards are primarily about recognising those who put in the effort and do their best.”  Sir Jack Petchey CBE who is sadly no longer with us but he left an incredible legacy.

Awards mean different things to different people. The Jack Petchey Achievement Awards are not solely for academic achievement – they may be used to recognise a personal triumph for someone who has faced a challenge, a young person who has pushed themselves outside of their comfort zone or it may be an opportunity to recognise the outstanding efforts of a team player.

A young person is nominated by their peers in their school or youth organisation. An important part of the scheme is the involvement of young people in selecting the award winners for their hard work and efforts. We want young people to recognise and celebrate the success of their peers.

Aroush (Year 8) chose to celebrate by visiting Nando’s. For Aroush, this wasn’t just a meal out—it was an opportunity to explore new flavours, enjoy time with friends, and engage with a popular part of food culture, expanding her social and cultural experiences.

Daniel (Year 10) opted for a thrilling go-karting experience. This high-energy activity allowed him to build confidence, teamwork, and quick decision-making skills—all while having fun. It was a perfect way for Daniel to expand his cultural capital through adventure and personal challenge.

Jamal (Year 8) chose to visit Oxygen Jump as his cultural capital experience. The trip encouraged physical activity, coordination, and social interaction in a fun and energetic setting. It offered a fresh way to build resilience and confidence while trying something new.
