Deep Learning Day 2025

Lessons of a different kind on DLD
On Wednesday 17th December 2025, we had our first Deep Learning Day (DLD) of the year. This was a day where students would have the opportunity to learn beyond the normal school day linked with a curriculum opportunity.
We had the fantastic opportunity of some educational visits for Year 8,9 and 11, to Hampton Court Palace (History), Battersea Power Station (Geography), Science Museum (Science), Bletchley Park (Maths), Stonehenge (RS) and British Museum (RS). Each of these trips gave students the opportunity to experience the changing landscapes of the present and past in shaping the world we live in, from regeneration to historical landmarks.
For the rest of the students, we had a range of activities in school which engaged the students in a variety of different ways, from having our Year 7s work with Your Life You Choose, where we had different key members of society come in and speak to the students about safety in and outside school; External visitors in English and Music to teach the students about how they can use their skills beyond the classroom; Students spent the day experimenting in different ways in the science labs; and a carousel activity where students were able to show their creativity with card making, deal with AI and How to use their voice.
The day was positive for the students, and they were able to show off all their classroom knowledge in a different environment. Many thanks must be shared with the students for their engagement with external visitors and trips but also to the staff who supported this day.
