Throwback 2025

Dressing for different decades

On Thursday 13th February, Barnhill hosted its first ever 'Throwback Day' with the Year 13 (Senior) Student Leadership Team organising their last charity event before they leave Barnhill.   With the support of Miss Taylor, Ms Bertin, Ms Mitchell and the Y13 (Senior) Prefects, the event was themed around dressing up in outfits to represent different decades.

We saw fashion ranging from the “Swinging 60s” to “2000s Y2K” and were amazed at the level of enthusiasm.

As well as collecting donations for dressing up, a bake sale and photo booth were held in collaboration with the Valentine’s event hosted by the Y12 Student Leadership Team. Individuals and groups queued up to have their pictures taken in their stylish attire.

Lively music and a general buzz of excitement resonated throughout the assembly hall during both lunch breaks - good food, great music, and dancing; there was no way it could have been any better. That was until Ms Kichenside graced the dance floor with her “professional dance skills”, which she alluded to at the Barnhill’s Got Talent event! Shout-out to ‘Soulja Boy’ for encouraging all year groups to get involved and have some serious fun!

The bake sale was a fantastic success, grossing the best profits ever!

It’s important to thank everyone who brought in a donation, everyone who helped run the event and everyone who took part. The event was an incredible success raising almost £2000 !!

Proceeds will be donated to an amazing cause, Save The Children. Supporting children not only locally but also globally, to list a few countries they provide aid to; Ethiopia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Guatemala and so many more.

We were overwhelmed by the success of the event and hope to have started a new Barnhill tradition.
