External Workshops & Support

At Barnhill we know that our parents/carers sometimes need advice on how they can support their child with Special Educational Needs, or any other concerns that they may have regarding their child’s development.

As a school we will always try our best to provide support and advice to our parents/carers, but we appreciate that there are more experienced and qualified professionals that you can access.

This is where we hope this page will help.

Keep checking this page regularly for updated information regarding events and workshops occurring within the local community, which you may find useful and beneficial for you and your child.

Exploitation, Gangs and Knife Crime Awareness

Anti-knife crime charity, The Ben Kinsella Trust has launched a FREE online course for ALL parents and carers.

Exploitation, Gangs and Knife Crime Awareness sessions are a two-part course delivered over two evening sessions (March 21st and 28th 7-9 pm)

These sessions are delivered by an ex-Met Officer and come highly recommended.

These are a valuable resource and signposting tool in preventing serious youth violence and exploitation and staff are also welcome to book on.

Ealing’s Spring Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Programme

We are delighted to be delivering in Ealing the Spring Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme which is funded by the Department for Education.

The HAF Programme provides free holiday provision, including healthy food and enriching activities, for children and young people in school from Reception to Y11 who reside in or attend school in Ealing and are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals (FSM), or who are vulnerable and would benefit from a HAF place.

Please take 70 seconds to see what our children and young people get up to in their HAF programmes:

Spring 2023 HAF

Ealing’s Spring HAF Programme will run from:

  • Monday 3rd to Friday 14th April 2023

Throughout the borough, HAF provisions will be offering a wide range of free activities as well as a healthy meal. Eligible children and young people can attend for a maximum of 4 days over the Easter school holiday, with any number of our HAF providers. For your information, please visit Ealing Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme |  Ealing Directory (ealingfamiliesdirectory.org.uk)

Vulnerable children and young people

We are able to offer a limited number of HAF places to some vulnerable children and young people who would benefit from attending HAF provision but are not in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.

If you are working with families who you feel would benefit, you will need to complete an online referral application to apply for them to be able to access the Spring HAF programme.

Referral applications will open next week on Monday 6th March and will close on Thursday 30th March 2023. We advise that you complete the application as soon as possible when applications open to be able to secure an eligibility code and HAF provider placement. Please note that vulnerable places should not be used for childcare.

Please note the application link above will not work until 9am on Monday 6th March.

Promote to eligible families

If you are working with any families of children or young people who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals, please let them know about our upcoming HAF programme and encourage them to book on to our Spring HAF activities.

From this week, eligible families will receive a printed leaflet from their child/young person’s school and an email with their HAF code and booking instructions. Please ask eligible families you are working with to look out for these leaflets and emails. If an eligible family does not receive their code by 10th March 2023 please ask them (or support them) to email HAF@ealing.gov.uk with the subject title ‘Eligible - Missing Code’.

Siblings of eligible children may be able to attend using the same code if the chosen provider is able to accommodate the required age range.

Our activity providers, booking information, and FAQ will be available through the HAF pages on Ealing’s Families Directory.

The booking system will go live to view and book the available activities throughout the day from Wednesday 15th March 2023.

We have had the subtitles of our full 2022 film translated into a variety of community languages. These films can be accessed through the ‘Video Gallery’ pages of our website. Please distribute this link to families as needed.
