Rewarding Trip to Stamford Bridge

Jack Petchey programme in action

Yuvan from Year 9 was nominated for a Jack Petchey reward based on being a model student and making a positive contribution to the school community. Yuvan invited a number of students from his year group to accompany him on a trip to Stamford Bridge to watch a Women's Super League match between Chelsea and Liverpool.

Yuvan recounted his experience below:

'When we arrived, there were large crowds flooding towards the stadium. Heaps and heaps of people rushing to watch the team they love play for the final game of the season. Inside the stadium, the excitement was palpable. People cheered for their side when in possession and urged them to win it back when out of possession.

90 minutes. Goalless.

Just when we thought the game would remain at stalemate for the whole match, a counter attack was launched in the 91st minute and the ball was dispatched past the Liverpool goalkeeper, finding the back of the net. Chelsea fans cheered for the perfect ending to their title winning season. The sixth time in a row, a monumental achievement. The trophy lift was the highlight of the day. The supporters all around the stadium were leaping out of their seats, celebrating their team’s league title.'

Thank you to Miss Raheman for subscribing us to the Jack Petchey scheme and to Mr Watts and Mr Abdillahi for giving up their Saturday to accompany the students.
