Cultural Fundraiser
A burst of colour and a splash of cash
In true Barnhill style, students embraced the opportunity to dress to represent their culture in exchange for a donation to raise funds for a number of nominated charities.
Along with the ever popular bake sale, henna and face painting and photo booth activities, total funds raised amounted to just under £2500 which is being split between a number of worthy causes including Save the Children, The Twins Trust, The Samaritans and YMCA.
Charlie May Flaherty came into school on Monday to accept a 'cheque' for £1000 from the Headteacher, Mr Jones on behalf of the Twins Trust. Charlie May met with some of the representatives who lead the fundraising campaign, Munira, Layan, Iman & Khadar and was impressed by their efforts, enthusiasm and organisation.
Charlie May was a former employee of Barnhill and enjoyed catching up with Ms Healy and Ms Dixon during her visit. She works tirelessly to raise awareness of the work of The Twins Trust having benefitted from their support personally in the past. You can read Charlie May's moving story on the attachment below and she is pictured with the Headteacher, Mr Jones, Deputy Headteacher Ms Bertin, the Y10 Fundraising representatives and Ms Dixon & Ms Healey.
