This Week (ending 30th January):
Senior Leadership Message This edition: Ms Bertin, Deputy Headteacher.
This term we have expanded our Safeguarding team and welcomed Ms Bryans. Our safeguarding team are here to support all of our students and families to ensure that our students are safe and have the best experience at school.
Focus for our safeguarding team this term includes resilience and confidence. We know that growing up and being a teenager today can be a struggle with lots of pressures, and we want to ensure they know just how amazing and capable they are. Mr Chavda, our Director of Culture and Engagement, will be holding assemblies for all students and there will be form time activities where students get to discuss their ideas on these important life skills.
A great way to develop confidence and resilience, and learn new skills, is by joining one of our extra-curricular clubs. Students can share common interests or try something new. They just need to come along and join in. For further information visit the school website Extra-Curricular Clubs - Barnhill Community High School
One way in which we instill a sense of belonging is through the school uniform which we expect to be worn correctly and with pride. We also expect learners to arrive in school confident they have the essentials to ensure they are ready to learn and be successful. Do you have any news to share?
Mr Chavda is still looking for contributions to the ‘Wall of Fame’ so if you have any success stories or achievements for which your child has been recognised, do email ‘enquiries@barnhill.school’ with ‘Attn Mr Chavda’ in the subject line.
Barnhill’s Got Talent
Lights, camera, action!
What an amazing evening. This event showcased some of the many talents our students have at Barnhill. January often gets labelled as blue month - and we were delighted to sprinkle some joy for our community. Check 'Latest News' for the full story and photos coming soon.
Free School Meals
We would like to encourage all our parents to check if they are eligible to apply for free school meals for their children. This funding is a source of financial support for many families who may not be aware of this entitlement. Please see below for the London Borough of Hillingdon website outlining the criteria for Free School Meals and how to apply.

If you do not know your NI number, you can contact National Insurance Enquiries helpline on 0300 200 3500.
Mobile Phones on the Road
The crime of phone theft while using mobile phones outside busy venues, including schools, is a cause for concern as incidents are on the rise. Often victims are approached from behind by persons on bikes or scooters. The advice below is taken from Police.uk
Be aware of your surroundings.
- If you need to call or use your phone on the street, look out for anyone on a bike or a moped near you. Look up, look out.
- Make it quick so you don't become distracted.
- Don't text while you're walking – you won't notice what's going on around you.
- If that's not possible, stand away from the roadside, close to a building or wall, so no one can come up behind you.
- Going hands-free can prevent a thief from snatching your phone out of your hand.
