More than Words

Languages for the Future
A group of our best Linguists in Year 9 attended the More Than Words event hosted by Pearson at the Emirates stadium, home of Arsenal FC. This inspiring day was filled with motivational talks, interactive performances, and a celebration of the power of languages in the real world.
The day started with a presentation by Steve Eadon, about the various careers available for linguists in the football industry.
A highlight of the morning was a vibrant talk by Sandile Gontsana, a dialect coach and performer in The Lion King musical. He explained how multilingualism has enhanced his theatre career, both on stage and on tour.
Ash Mukherjee kicked off the afternoon with a Bollywood dance session, followed by a talk from graphic novelist James Albon who shared how learning languages has enriched his storytelling and enabled him to travel and connect with people across the globe.
Our students returned full of enthusiasm and inspiration, having seen first-hand how learning languages can lead to amazing opportunities in the arts, sport, travel, and beyond. It was a day to remember – and a perfect reminder that languages truly are for life.
