Y10 take on the Duke of Edinburgh

Y10s pitched up in pursuit of the DofE Bronze Award

From the 14th to the 15th of July, 35 adventurous Year 10 students took part in their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award expedition, and what an experience it was! Setting off from Amersham Station, they navigated their way through the scenic countryside with nothing but their rucksacks, maps, compasses, and determination, finally reaching their destination at Rickmansworth Aquadrome.

The overnight stay took place at the Paccar Scout Camp, where students pitched their own tents, cooked their own meals (with noodles being the unofficial expedition staple), and bonded over late-night games of Mafia. The laughter, teamwork, and sense of independence on display were a real testament to the spirit of the DofE award.

Over the course of the two days, students were entirely self-sufficient, following their own pre-planned routes, carrying all their gear, and showing incredible resilience despite the tired legs and occasional navigation hiccup. The staff were incredibly proud of their attitude and teamwork throughout.

A huge thank you goes to Mr Wootton, Mr Spoor, and Miss Taylor, who accompanied the students and offered support, encouragement, and the odd helping hand where needed. The 2 day trek was a fantastic success and a memory that will hopefully stay with many of the students for years to come.

Well done, Year 10, your next adventure awaits!
