Afternoon Communi-tea!
King's Trust students serve up a treat for our local seniors
My Y9 King’s Trust class organised an afternoon tea party for 40 senior citizens. I baked two big cakes, while my team made cupcakes. I put blue icing on the cakes to make them look extra special. On Friday, we decorated the main hall, set up the tables, organised the food and drink and sorted out the music.
At 1 o’clock the guests started showing up. Once everyone sat down, my buddy Mohammed and I took turns to take orders for tea and coffee. We gave them their drinks with a smile after smile. Some other students served the sandwiches; everyone had a job. We served ham, egg, cheese and chicken sandwiches and lots and lots of cakes. After the food, we had some singers and dancers performing.
We then gave each guest a raffle ticket and lots of people won prizes. Me, Jaycee and Muzamil called out the bingo and then it was time for Santa to arrive. I dressed up as Santa and gave everyone a chocolate. My whole class took part, and it was really fun.
It was really rewarding to help the elderly people and see them smile.
I learnt how to work in a team and improve my communication skills. I also learnt it was very satisfying to help others.
