Lucky students reach for the Sky!
On Tuesday 13th January 27 students from the Barnhill Film-making Club travelled to the Sky Up Campus – the home of Sky News and Sports.
It’s a swanky, star-studded, campus where some of the great figures of sport, TV, news and film create their magic.
Sky runs one of the most prestigious and sought after schemes in the country for aspiring film-makers – and we had been lucky enough to grab one of those spots!
At the Sky campus our students were divided into 4 groups. They were given one hour to write, direct, produce, present, report, film and edit a news piece about climate change. Each of them took on a vital role, they had to work together as a group, and learn new skills on the spot.
I’m happy to report that all of our Barnhill teams rose magnificently to the challenge and produced some fantastic work. The 4 news pieces were edited together – it was like watching a fun version of the Six O’clock news!
Our students seemed to have an amazing time – and we hope it will be the first of many visits to Sky. We’re already planning our next trip – to learn the skills needed to make drama, TV and film.
Also – watch this space! The first of the Barnhill Film-making Club films will soon be out – with more to come! We hope you enjoy them!
