This Week (ending 13th March):

Senior Leadership Message: This edition: Mr Hillman, Assistant Headteacher

This week at Barnhill Community High School has been full of celebration, reflection, and hard work across the school community.

Achievement and Attitudes Results

Year 10 students collected their latest Achievement and Attitudes results this week. These results provide an important opportunity for students to reflect on their progress, celebrate their successes, and identify areas for growth as they continue their GCSE journey. We encourage students to review their feedback carefully and speak with their teachers about how they can continue to improve and challenge themselves. Meanwhile, Year 11 students have been working incredibly hard as they completed their final round of mock examinations. These mocks are an important milestone in preparing for the upcoming GCSE exams, giving students valuable practice and helping teachers identify areas where additional support may be needed. We are proud of the resilience and dedication shown by our Year 11 cohort during this busy period.

This week’s assemblies focused on recognising International Women’s Day. Students explored the achievements and contributions of women throughout history and reflected on the importance of equality, respect, and opportunity for all. The assemblies encouraged thoughtful discussions about how everyone can contribute to a fairer and more inclusive society.

As always, we thank our students, staff, and families for their continued dedication and support. We look forward to another productive and inspiring week ahead at Barnhill Community High School.

World Book Day Celebrations

Students and staff embraced the joy of reading as we celebrated World Book Day. Throughout the school, classrooms were filled with discussions about favourite books, staff dressed as inspiring characters, and the power of storytelling. Many students took part in themed activities designed to encourage a lifelong love of reading. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm for literature and creativity across all year groups.

Easter Holiday Activities

Hillingdon have a number of organised sessions running over the Easter break.  Information was shared via Edulink last week and can be found again here  Hillingdon Youth Offer

Positive Report

We are trialling a new initiative in Y7 to recognise students who may be struggling with conduct (for which they may have been on a monitoring report) or for students who may benefit from some assurance or recognition to improve confidence.  If the trial is successful, this will be rolled out to other year groups.

Community Support from the Local Gurdwara

We were also pleased to welcome a representative from our local Gurdwara who visited the school to offer support and guidance to students from our Sikh community. His presence provided an opportunity for students to connect with a community leader, ask questions, and receive encouragement during this important stage of the school year. We are grateful for the strong partnership we continue to build with our local community.

Community

We aim to keep parents/carers involved in school life and At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents.” – Jane D. Hull (American politician and educator)
