This Week (ending 17th April):

Senior Leadership Message

This edition: Ms Qureshi, Associate Headteacher

Following the Easter holidays, our students and staff returned with a vibrant energy and enthusiasm, ready for the term ahead. Whilst many students have managed to utilise the time to re-energise, our year 11 and 13 students were busy preparing for their final examinations. It was great to see so many students in school over the holidays, attending intervention sessions with subject specialist teachers who gave up their personal time to teach our students. We appreciate their commitment and know this influences our students’ motivation and drive to achieve the very best success. Final written GCSE and A Level exams begin on the 1st of May, but we have already had the Art & Design exam this week and next week we have French and Spanish speaking exams, buena suerte! We wish all our year 11 and 13 students the very best of luck.

Next week, we have a careers fair in school with a plethora of organisations and companies in from different industries, aiming to inspire our young students to be ambitious as they begin to contemplate their future careers. With our vast networks in industry, we are very lucky to secure prestigious employers, particularly from STEM subjects with a proactive drive to engage our female and ethnic minority communities.

Year 9 will have Options Evening on the 30th April, where students will be selecting the subjects they wish to study beyond Key Stage 3. This is an exciting time for students to select GCSE subjects they really enjoy and want to learn in more depth, or an opportunity to learn something new in courses such as Business, Sociology, Product Design and many more.

Key Dates

  • Transition Day is Tuesday 7th July when school is only open to current Y6 students who have secured a place at Barnhill to start in September.
  • Autumn Term 2026 will start for Y7 & Y12 on Thursday 3rd September and all pupils should be in school Friday 4th September.

Batting for Barnhill our under 15 cricketers did us proud with a first-round win in the Middlesex Cup against Fulham boys.  Securing victory with 4 overs to spare, the team were ‘stumped’ for words but full of pride!

Jack Petchey’s ‘Take to the Stage’ Event

Some of our music students were invited to take part in the JPF Achievement Awards with a chance to win a £1000 for the school.  Students will compete alongside other performers on Thursday 23rd April. Look out for the full article and results on our Latest News section following the event.

Careers Fair – Friday 24th April

This will provide an exciting opportunity for students to explore a wide range of pathways.  Employers, training providers, colleges, and universities will be attending the event, giving students a chance to ask questions, learn more about various occupations, and obtain insightful knowledge about the world of work. It is a crucial component of our dedication to providing students with Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) and assisting them in making well-informed decisions regarding their next steps.

New Branding / Uniform

We announced at the end of last term that we are ‘re branding’ and this is a reminder to parents not to purchase any Barnhill items until the new uniform is launched.
