Time Capsule Update

Following our last newsletter, we had a flurry of interest from around 50 past students who wanted to look back on their contribution to the time capsule 25 years ago!

Some have given us permission to share a ‘then’ and ‘now’ which we are delighted to include here.

Curtis
My favourite memory has got to be the DT lessons with Mr Garrard. Proper top teacher.
I'm currently a Warehouse manager (and it looks like he works in a warehouse bearing his name!)

I have great memories at Barnhill from the day we walked in on the first day of year 7 (and we were the oldest in the school, which felt unique/strange) and making friends for life.
The teachers were great and loved playing football on the astro and for the school team.
I worked at Heathrow Airport for 13 years and am currently working for Sky in security (alongside another former Barnhillian, Liam!)

Brett
I’m a professional painter and decorator in the building trade.  Brett said he liked the canteen when he was at Barnhill and enjoyed ICT lessons and playing football.

I am now a pharmacist and my love for art lead me to becoming a henna artist.
I also moved to Hertfordshire a few years ago.

My favourite memory of Barnhill is probably having the School all to ourselves in year 7. I absolutely loved art and painted a section of a huge canvas of the school which was placed on the wall for many years. I made great friends and am still in touch with some of them today!

My best memories of being at Barnhill were meeting my best friend, Emma. We’re still friends now, and it’s great to see Mr Pilkington still working at Barnhill. He was an incredible teacher. I loved food technology. It really helped me get into my career as a chef. Barnhill was a fantastic school, and I loved my time there. Best memories ever!

Barnhill was a great time in my life where I formed friendships that continue to this day.
The teachings of PE at GCSE & A levels at Barnhill have enabled me to have my own sports coaching business where we teach in primary schools and nurseries across different boroughs.
I'm also in a band where we have performed shows in the UK, Europe and US! I now regret not taking music in my GCSEs!

I am an aircraft refueller at London Heathrow Airport. Not quite the pilot I dreamed of being at school, but get to play around with planes nonetheless, so I’m very happy with that.
I have many fond memories from my days at Barnhill, but my favourite was probably getting an award for being 'Everybody's Friend' at Barnhill’s first ever prom.

I have lots of great memories of Barnhill, mostly all the friends I made and particularly Hannah who is still one of my closest friends!
I loved P.E. and really looked forward to sports days at Hayes Stadium. But my favourite memories are of Rock Challenge.  We competed for a few years but the later years when Hannah, James and I were more involved with the organising and choreography rather than just taking part were some of the best times!
I’m now married and mum to a one year old boy and three year old girl who keep me on my toes!
